Mito AET Program

  • Average AET tenure is 2-3 years.


  • AETs operate on one year contracts.  Renewed at the discretion of the Mito City Educational Research Center.


  • AETs teach at 4 schools at most (including Kindergartens and Nursery schools as well).


  • Mito has 19 Kindergartens with 663  students, 13 Nursery schools with 932 students, 32 Elementary schools with 13,316 students, 15 Junior high schools with 6,549 students and 1 Compulsory school with 163 students.
  •   AET Program started in 1985.


  • The year starting the current style by the relationship with Oklahoma Christian University (the sister school of Ibaraki Christian University) is from 1988.


  • Mito has completed the placement of AETs for all the Junior high schools in 1989 and for all the Elementary schools in 2006.


  • AET Program between Anaheim and Mito started in 2010.


  • Annual AET positions are 39.


  • Mito has 80 schools and 21,623 students. This does not include high schools where AETs are not required.
